Voice banking

I’m interested in the possibility of Voice Banking and wonder if anyone has tried this and can recommend any particular software?
(Voice Banking is the process by which one can record one’s voice so that in the event of losing the power of speech at a later stage in PD, voice replacement technologies can use one’s own voice and inflexions rather than a robotic one.)

Hi, @LucyT. Firstly, a warm welcome back to the forum!

Voice banking can be a really valuable tool for people with Parkinson’s who are concerned about losing their speech. Some people have used Acapela Group’s Voice Banking, or ModelTalker with good results, as they let you record your own voice and preserve your natural tone. It usually takes a few hours of reading scripted phrases to get a full voice profile.

It’s a good idea to chat with your speech and language therapist, if you have one, as they can help guide you through the process and make sure it works well with your needs.

For more guidance, you can call our free, confidential helpline: 0808 800 0303. Our trained experts and specialist nurses are on hand anytime between 9am and 6pm Monday to Friday, and 10am and 1pm on Saturdays (Our helpline is closed on Sundays and bank holidays)

You might also find this article on our website useful, which shares Phil’s story and his decision to use voice banking software.

We hope this is helpful! :blue_heart:
