Waiting for neurologist

Hi to all out there, I been recommended for an urgent Hospital appointment for assessment, after finally getting a doctors appointment for right leg problems he picked up on hand tremors which I have had for years but as you do put it down to aging 66 years old now.

Things seem to have progressed at quite an alarming speed affecting my right hand side but also milder in my left, sometimes effecting my speech causing voice change and stuttering, muscle twitching (restless leg which is annoying), its been along time since I have been able to walk without supervision outside with my right leg having a mind of its own sometimes, it is to say the leased life debilitating! mornings usually being the worst time and wake up with a terrible hangover (I don’t drink lol)but can strike at anytime without warning, I have not told anyone yet because I would want a professional diagnosis first, I have wife to thank for her support, anyone else have the problems with emotions crying for no reason? I find it most embarrassing amongst other things.

Hi @Dino, thank you for sharing your story with us. It sounds like a lot has changed very quickly, and that’s understandably worrying. It’s good your GP picked things up and got you seen urgently as getting a specialist to look at everything together is really important.

The movement changes, speech issues, restless legs and sudden emotional shifts are all things people affected by Parkinson’s often talk about, and they can be really tough to deal with on your own. Morning difficulties can also make the whole day feel harder. We have lots of resources for managing Parkinson’s symptoms on our website, which might have some useful tips and information for you: Managing Parkinson's | Parkinson's UK

It’s lovely that your wife is supporting you, but you don’t have to wait for the hospital appointment to get help. Our free, confidential helpline is here for anyone affected by Parkinson’s: 0808 800 0303. We are sending you all our best wishes :blue_heart:

Thank you,

But I believe I really need a face to face diagnosis, I feel that some people would not believe the problems I am having as it comes and goes when it feels like it! I’m sure we have all been there.
