What happens now?

I’m 61 and saw the neurologist in December. He diagnosed Parkinsons. It seemed quite clear. I had an right hand tremour (when i hold an object), slowed movements, no arm swing, small handwriting, shuffling gait etc. He recommended Co-Careldopa and a scan to make sure. I’m on the medication and it appears to be helping a bit. I’m waiting for the hospital appt and the scan. My symptoms don’t seem to be affecting my life too much at the moment but I have no idea what happens from now on, how the symptoms progress or how long it will be before I have to make big life changes.

Hi mark c
I was diagnosed at59 ime 64 now still working i take sinemet 4x a day i have a tremor but now its in both hands but i carry on day to day i do suffer with insomnia now but try to ignore the symptoms this disease is slow moving

Hi markc
I’m 62 and diagnosed early November, i have an occasional tremor in my left hand and some speack problems but my life is pretty much the same, obviously every case is different and the speed it develops is also different but i find exercise helps, i take co-beneldopa 3 times a day and find it helps, except for the insomnia.

Thanks DJ72. Sounds very similar to my experience. Idon’t have speach problems but an occational right hand tremor, walking gait issues and tiny handwriting. I also have what I call a ‘mirco-twitch’ when I’m resting. I take co-careldopa three time a day.

calv1960. I think not knowing how quickly or what direction things will progress is the most difficult part for me at the moment.

Everyone with Parkinson’s is different. None of us have a Chrystal Ball.
