Who to Trust Now?

This afternoon, I had a very long overdue video appointment with my doctor. The last time I saw him face to face was in October 2023. Three months ago, I spoke to him over the phone. At some point during my treatment, I was put on Madopar. This dose has been tweaked a few times. This afternoon he has told me that I have been taking five tablets a day when I should have been taking two.

I am in utter shock. I was unable to come up with any questions and have spent the last two hours trying to fathom out how in the hell did this happen? Who made the mistake? When did the mistake get made? What happens next and how can I trust anybody on my care team now? It’s not something that I can say are you sure this is correct? Because I’m not an expert. They are the experts. We’re all human, and we can all make mistakes. But this mistake has gone through at least 3 different doctors and one Parkinson’s nurse and not one of them has picked it up that this is the incorrect way to take this tablet. I really don’t know what to do next.

How do you know there was a mistake ? Look online if reducing your dose will create withdrawal problems.

because he asked me why was I taking 5 a day as prescribed.

Evening Artgreek … That is annoying. What is the medication going forward ?

Best wishes

Hi Steve
I’ve been taking 5x 100/25 CR with 5x 50/12.5 as prescribed when it should be 2x 100/25 CR and 5x 50/12.5.
Changes will be made to my Pramipexole too, but I’m not sure what they will be yet. Opicapone to remain the same.

Let’s hope you feel better through these changes.
