Hi, @HiFi59. Thank you for sharing this. It sounds incredibly difficult. Watching someone move into a more complex stage of Parkinson’s and vascular dementia can be exhausting and frightening.

What you’re describing - problems with swallowing and breathing, increased sleep, changes in posture (like the foot turning in), and fluctuations in body temperature - are things other carers do recognise in more advanced stages.

You’re not alone in facing this, even though it can feel very isolating. It might help to talk through what’s happening with your Parkinson’s nurse (if you have access to one), the GP, or palliative care team, who can sometimes offer extra support focused on comfort, breathing, positioning and easing distress for both your wife and you.

If you’d like to talk things through with someone who understands Parkinson’s and caring at this stage, our free helpline is here to listen and support on 0808 800 0303. Our trained experts and specialist nurses can also help you think about what support might be available locally.

You’re doing an incredibly hard thing with a lot of love, and others here will understand what you’re going through :blue_heart:
