Funnily enough I do have trouble doing up my coat and laces and zips and buttons. Even when I pointed this out it didn't seem to make that much difference.
I am still managing to hold a job down, they accomodate me at the moment and do help me, then I retire in September. Someone said that I would have to claim before I retire otherwise I won't be able to get anything, whether that right or not I don't know. I find it all rather confusing. Think I will request another form and take it to citizens advice see if they can help.
hi sheila. It would be better if your parkinsons support worker fills the forms out for you & they would advise you what to claim for before you retire.
hi sheila. i remember many yrs ago i got citizens advice to fill my claim forms in & got nothing told my pd support worker she filled it out & got me high mobility & middle care, yes i was still working aswell .
Thank you for your advice, one more question please, would I find out who my support worker is through my GP or my parkinsons nurse? I have never discussed this with anyone and nobody has ever told me that I am entitled to one, the subject has never been approached.
No news yet Candy but i called DWP today and was told the decision 'is in progress' and it should be made by next Tuesday if not before , but the journalist running the story is chasing up DWP tomorrow before it goes into print on Wednesday
That's ridiculous taking all that time Shelly, it never used to take that long years ago. The trouble is some people abused the system and falsley claimed and are still claiming now, doing that has spoilt it for genuine claiments.
Yes Sheila i agree one of the problems i had was i was offered a home visit at the end of last year by Capita because of my mobility issues but i was told they did not have any health professionals employed in my area to carry them out so i had to wait till March 2014 for the assessment
Totally agree about all the false claimants but has you say it just makes it worse for genuine people .
