good luck shelly & try to keep calm !

Hi Everybody,

Shelly I think its disgusting what that nurse said, You should make a formal complaint that is so cruel. Yes getting medication at the right time is really terrible, And with meals is just impossible. Like I said we discussed this at our last support group.

We were told that nurses dont understand how important getting the meds at the right time is, And that A lot of nurses do not know much about the condition at all.

We were saying that basic knowledge of PD should be taught during nurse training and also once a PD patient is admitted the resident PD nurse should come to see the patient and instruct the nurses about the med regime.

I hope you dont get to stressed, easier said than done I know, But you dont want to make your PD worse.

On a different note, I phoned DWP to see if a decision has been made yet, Of course it has not, They said I was welcome to phone in anytime to check, But they are hoping to have a decision for me in about a weeks time.

Do you mind me asking Shelly how long it took for your payments to start once you had been accepted. Of course I still have that hurdle to go, No guarantee of anything yet.

Take care all, And keep your chins up, hope to have news soon.

                                                   lots of love

                                                     Candyxx

Hi Candy

The decision on my claim was made on the 25th March so they calculated all the payments due from the date of my initial claim which was the 4th Sept 2013 up until 25 th March 2014 which came in at just under £4.000 and my regular payments were every 4 weeks from the 25th March , i received my backdated payment a few das after the decision was made

Good luck Candy hope everything goes well for you  xxx

Candy , Paul

Now that DWP have your reports you now have the right to ring DWP  and ask for a copy of the assessors report to be sent to you, you should receive them in about 5 days time .

Hi All

I had an email from my MP and it basically stated from the dwp that were sorry I had experienced problems in claiming PIP but that it can take 21 to 26 weeks on average for the claim to be processed.I rang the dwp today and for the 3rd time of asking asked for a copy of the atos report to be sent to me. The response was I will ask them in an email and flag it urgent for you. Hang on a minute I have already asked twice this was the 3rd time. The whole thing is fragmented and the expression could'nt run a bath comes to mind. I feel like writing a letter to the dwp and basically saying to whom it may concern I am so sorry I had the bad taste to get ill. I will advise if there are any more developments but like Candy its a waiting game in my case I would say a deliberate waiting game because I chased them up via my MP...............................Paul

Hi Shelly and Paul,

The payments are once a month are they Shelly, Thats handy to know because I wasnt sure.

When I asked for a copy of my report they said I was not allowed to recieve a copy until after the decision has been made.

Do these people actually know what they are doing? They seem to tell people different things.

Well a few more days and I will be on the phone again, At least it will be backdated, Mine should be backdated from the 15th jan which is when they received my claim, If I am accepted of course.

Let you guys know how things go, take care all

                            Candy.xxxxx

Yes Candy , on the day your decision is made your payments are calculated back to the date you made the telephone call to make your claim which has you say is the 15th Jan then your payments are every 4 weeks , my decision was made on 25th March so payments would be  22nd April , 20th May etc  every 4 weeks , i think they make the rules up as they go along , i had my report through the post the day after my decision was made  so it must have been posted out to me before they made the decision

Candy/ Paul

The hardest part is done now at least you know that you are on the last leg as it were it is only a case now of waiting for a decision from DWP maybe a week at the most

Paul

I had my MP on them ,and  the journalist from the Daily Mirror ,  Capita did my home assessment on 6th March  the reports were back with DWP on the 13th March for the electronic copy and `18 th March hard copy then 1 week later the decision was made the day before the story hit the papers  so it does pay to complain .

Hi Shelly and Paul,

Had a letter from DWP which I opened thinking is this it, An apology that it has taken so long and that they have all the info they need and a decision should be made shortly.

Nice of them to apologise ,But wish they would hurru up.lol,

                                       take care candy.xxxxxxxxxxxx

Hi Candy

Oh no bet it was a bit of a anti climax , but look on bright side it will be sometime soon within the next week i should think plus the longer it goes on the better as i guess you would have had a letter pretty quickly if they were going to refuse you

Hope it is not to long for you to wait now , good luck i hope it is good news , keep us posted  xxxx

Thanks Shelly,

I never thought of it like that, If they were turning me down I guess it would be a quicker decision, Yes I will take it that no news is good news.

I will phone the middle of next of week and see if they have made a decison, I will let you know the outcome, Thanks for the support. I hope your mum is feeling better.

                                      Take care candy.xxxx

Hi Guys,

Not the best start Shelly, But it should be easier that PIP, I phoned again today, Still no decision has been made. Getting a bit fed up now to be honest, I keep telling myself patience but they had the report from capita on the 24th April, Thats almost a month. Still keep phoning and one day I may be lucky.

Hope your mum has a lovely birthday.

                                 Take care all

                                    Candy.xxxxxx

Sorry to hear it is taking so long Candy , i think mine was done quickly because they knew that the story was going in the papers the next day and they were trying to limit the damage so to speak but i do hope you get a decision soon i know it is terrible not knowing  and the wait for the decision seems like the longest few weeks , but you will have a decision soon and i hope its a good one

Yes thank you she had a lovely birthday , i can tell that she is back to her old self , she asked me to take her some chocolates in , we were sitting talking and all of a sudden she said ' some of the nurses will have a chocolate but some are on a diet ,  i will offer the doctor one in the morning , he wont say no , i doubt he is on a diet  he has got a bloody big beer belly '  thats my mother xxx
