Long haul travel without medication as not on it yet

Hello, I am recently diagnosed and about to take a 24 hour plane trip and wondering if anyone has any experience. I am 58 and not on medication yet. Thanks

Hi @Ruby4, thank you for your post.

We have a page on our website about travel that may be useful to you: Holidays, travel and Parkinson's | Parkinson's UK

In addition some years ago there was another thread about long haul travel which you may find here: Any tips for long-haul travel?

The exchange may be from 2014, but you may still find the messages useful.

We hope you have a wonderful time on your trip!

Hello Ruby .. I bet you have had Parkinson’s for a year or two. It doesn’t just pop up the day before you are diagnosed. You have clearly managed all that time without medication. So I would go on holiday and have a great time. I used to fly from the UK to Florida, undiagnosed, but with PD and I managed.

What you might consider is telling the airline that you are disabled, this will get you a wheelchair through security and to and from the plane. I could not have managed without it.

Best wishes

I travelled before I started my medication and it was no different to before diagnosis. Just take each step at a time. Try not to over think things and relax your mind to avoid any anxiety.
