Jax, Mrs T I have not posted tp this thread, nor do I remember at anytime being 'nasty' to either of you.
Sometimes a very nasty feel to it this forum but when i go to conferences , must be people there from forum who just never have opinions or raise issues when it really matters

I feel utterly bullied and pure heavy insulted, in fact I'm crushed.
[edited]
I've wasted enough time in this thread, it was funny to begin with, but enough is enough. [edited] Conversly I have come across some really decent and compassionate people who I'd prefer to converse with.
So I've taken a lot of positives from a really negative situation. Another lesson learned. Everydays a school day.

Hi,
So much upset, when all that is needed is understanding. The word that stands out for me in these later pages came from Tim the moderator.WELCOMING.There are many others that should be adhered to in addition i feel, starting with
RESPECT
UNDERSTANDING
SUPPORT
UNITY
LOVE/CARE
Welcoming is not what pwp see at this present moment.I agree that there are certain things that have caused bitterness and paranoia to escalate. However, how hard is it to just be nice,to consider each person individually.Understand that each and everyone of us has their faults.Kiss and make up,don,t harbour grudges and bitterness towards others.Discuss things without becoming personal.
Just stating the obvious, because you can talk about this till the cows come home.Unless people put feuds aside and consider the feelings of others, this forum will sit here stagnating. It,s a shame.Although visiting another forum,i will not desert here. That would be defeatist, don,t give up and walk away.Stay.
Take care all

This could have been a great opportunity for one and all to obtain valid reasons why posters have abandoned the Forum.
Leyther laid out some very basic conditions and three time tried to bring the thread back into line.
You would have expected to only see names that you have not seen for months or years! Instead it is full of regular posters taking umbrage over slights that should not be taken personally. A new thread could have been adopted for regular posters to make their comments and in the words of another "it's not rocket science, you can then decide to read it or not". Because the posts were all in one place acrimony and anarchy now reigns and nothing has been learned with the exception that those who like chaos and resentment have once again won. The meek shall inherit the Earth!! I don't think so!!
There are exceptions to this and I know that some posts were made with the intention of pouring oil on troubled waters and asking for calm to be restored.
This Forum is for all persons affected by PD be it a PWP or a Carer. Some are stronger than others and some are more sensitive than others. I recall a thread where words we hate were posted and the word "obvious" was prominent amongst them. The thing is whilst something is obvious to one person it is beyond the comprehension of others. We are not members of the Master Race nor are vicious by nature. We were all chosen to contract this damn thing and I thought we were here to help each other limp along together. This Forum has been of great comfort to many but to some it is a device to undermine and create confusion and animosity and having done so retreat to the shadows and laugh at the destruction and hurt they have perpetrated. SHAME SHAME SHAME.
I await vilification.

Everything you say is fine, but if people have left and gone elsewhere they're not going to see this thread at all, and are therefore hardly likely to leave their comments.
This thread relies on the wobbly assumption that leavers are still sitting there reading all the forum posts, but simply not posting any more. I reckon they're more likely to have gone for good.

I was greatly encouraged to see names that I had never seen before.I have not been posting but continued to enjoy the poems of Lin Titan-AB and others!
I dont mean to me I mean in general be like kicking a puppy being nasty to me lol. I hate to see pointless point scoring of everyone drives me mad
btw I was referring to all of you I dont take sides and fyi Im very much a girl I thankyou now put ya bum away lol
Whether they are there reading or have left for good does not alter the points made by Bogman.
I only started to post again and report provocotive and unkind posts because D***** if was going to see the bullies belittle anyone who made a positive posting or was trying to get on with life. Nor did I feel it was right that one person felt they could control the content and style of the Forum. There is room for all:the serious, the light hearted, the positive and the those posting because they were in desperate plight and needed help or somebody just wanting the advice of the long timer. Maybe one person's life with Parkinsons is miserable, but just because another person, such as David, is getting on with life and is still active,it does not mean that the miserable person has a right to try and belittle his efforts.Perhaps to convince everyone that the "reality" of life with Parkinson's is misery and more misery, they feel that they must go over and over the same points. That attitude is what has driven people away, along with the idea that they can control the content of the Forum. This happened to me in that when I expressed views that were not acceptable to their way of thinking my replies were often followed by sarcastic comments: real rudeness on one occasion, which has "Post deleted" there now. I do have a sense of humour but this went over the line.
I realise that whilst these exchanges may frighten and upset a number of Forum members and exasperate even more, to some it may give them the thrill and excitement that would otherwise be lacking. This thread has been an opportunity to try to put thinks right, but I fear I will see what I have seen over the years that things will quieten down for a while only to flare up again at some future date.Sorry Tim,but I fear that this problem will not be solved until there is more proactive moderation.

Amongst all the controversy and arguments on this thread, there have been some salient points put forward. Most importantly that people should not be 'scared' to post for fear of offending someone who's opinions differ. Everyone should be allowed to make their voice heard and to answer a question with a constructive response.
I would like to suggest the following to moderators....
If someone responds to a post on a thread in a demeaning or derogatory manner which causes obvious offence or upset may i suggest an alternative to deleting the post. How about leaving the post but adding a moderators note at the bottom of it such as the following.
'due to this post being demeaning and offensive to other members, the poster of this message has been banned from contributing further to this thread'.
Hopefully, this would then enable the thread to continue without the input of those who are causing it to go off topic.
Just an idea.
Best wishes to all

Really good idea.

So if everyone's got so many good ideas why is everyone sitting back being totally UNproactive?
As Tim reports:
"We have made a number of attempts to get volunteers from the forum community to help us draw up the user guidelines, assist with moderation and to join the Advisory Panel but have not got a large response."

Good point.I suppose as far as I am concerned I do not want the responsiblity. A poor excuse I know, but I have spent my life being responsibl, especially in my working life. Then when I retired I looked after the grandchildren five days a week ,day and night. Selfishly,I want" me time" now. Time when I can decide to turn the computer on or off. Time to do nothong at all, if I so choose. You get the picture.
Hope that is clear.I do not have P, but I still hit the wrong keys and do not notice until too late.
Ray;I chose to give you an answer about why I did not want to volunteer. Do not heckle people about it. Why should they answer if they do not want to do so? They have every right not to answer. I see you have been on at least one more thread asking the question in heavy type. That is aggressive and could put people off posting on other matters. Now stop it ,if it is not bullying it is verging on it. I have not heckled you on answering my question about showing me where I said I wanted little or no moderation. I showed you the courtesy of allowing you not to answer, so as to prevent you embarrassment. Now please allow others this courtesy.
I hardly ever post on here now because of the bullying and arguments. I don't know what to believe regarding some posts. Just because I do not post, I have not gone for good and I do spend alot of time reading the various topics.

Hi ECD.
1. Prior to Jem, 5 out of 7 posts were yours. Don't you think this is hogging the limelight rather? Dominating the thread perhaps?
2. You say "Ray; I chose to give you an answer about why I did not want to volunteer. Do not heckle...". I'm not sure why you seem to think the question was aimed specifically at you. Isn't that a trifle egotistical? If you check, you'll see it was for "everyone".
3. Who are these "people" being heckled?
4. I was not questioning people's right not to answer, merely pointing out that some folk may have left for good, and not be reading all of this piffle at all. This possibility seemed to have been overlooked.
5. Who has ruled that heavy type is aggressive? Was it aggressive in Carrot's post at 19:23? No, it clearly wasn't. You didn't complain about that, did you? Stop being inaccurately selective just to suit your current point. Heavy type is merely a way of raising awareness, or stressing a particular word or phrase. UPPER CASE, on the other hand, IS recognised as shouting. This is stated in the forum guidelines.
6. You are forever looking out for posts by me, then trying to think of a reason to complain about them. And you call ME a bully! It is YOU obsessively stalking ME, my friend, which constitutes bullying. And who are YOU to advise ME what courtesies I should allow others? My dialogue(s) with others are of no concern to you. Cheek!
7. Thank you for the offer of your hand to hold in order to "prevent you embarrassment." However I think I can cope by myself.
Ray.

And so it continues........
My opinion is that this thread will go on and on and on its destructive path
while people continue to post on it. Can't we all just stop and let it slide into the archives where it can remain as a lesson to everyone as to what can happen when we loose sight of what is really important?
Surely we are here to help, not to hurt.
