Hi how are you today?

Barcelona........home of Manuel and one of the best football teams in the world.

No offence, but I wouldn't swap Barcelona for a party.

For my wife's 60th I took her to Austria. It was pure magic. We won't forget her 60th.

Enjoy your trip and keep valuables in pockets with zips.

We went to Italy, Lake Como. for my 60th and our 40th wedding anniversary which were within a couple of days of each other. That was a holiday we both will not forget, it was idyllic, one of the best holidays we have been on. It was our first coach tour as well and the fellow trippers were an amazing bunch, we could'nt have met a nicer crowd. The only disappointment was it was the year England played Italy in the European Championships and Italy won!

I'm one of those irrational people who won't fly Sheffy, so I go by coach. I find the same as you........fellow travellers become friends very quickly.

I do silly things like buy a big bag of grapes, or sweets, etc and tell them to pass them round. It breaks the ice with the whole coach and it's amazing how many start doing the same. It costs very little, but the rewards are immense.

I have yet to go on a coach trip where I didn't have a damn good laugh and see so much of the surrounding area.

During the day it is do as you damn well pleasy, in the evening it's get together and have entertainment with like minded people.

If I win the lottery I will be coaching and sailing, not flying.

My wife flies and thinks I'm crackers not wanting to.

I say......... I like my coach trips and will never fly, they have so much to offer on so many levels.

                                                        Best wishes to all                FED

Hello, Fed --

Remarkable!  Something else we have in common: I can do that unconscious alarm clock trick, too.  I haven't used a real alarm clock in years except for days when I must be at an airport very early.  Then I don't trust myself and set a clock just to ensure that I don't miss a flight.  But usually I wake up before the clock rings -- or buzzes or chirps or whatever I set it to do.

Your fight against PD continues to be inspiring to many of us.  I am trying to prepare myself for the harder times and can only hope I have courage and determination half as great as yours.  And in the meantime I am enjoying every minute of mobile, relatively healthy life.  I keep booking as much travel as I can afford and continue lots of activities with friends.

Best wishes once again!

J

Hi Astoriasis and all our Parky pals......I wish you were here Astoriasis because i would organize a party for you matey......i know what you mean and it is something i always wanted and it didn't materialise and so i am going all out to make sure my medical themed party as a big thank you to all our pals who supported us and drove me to see my man in Hospital last year is going to be mad, bad and lots of fun. We are dressing up and playing lots of silly games, some line dancing, lots of grub inc brain jelly and jelly syringes. Music from Casualty, Holby city and anything connected with body parts. Suddenly i found a reason to make sure a party was organised and just went for it, whilst the energy levels were still good.

You must be a Pisces like me? mine is today 4th and it has been a very happy day and the sun was shining wonderful. I am sure you will enjoy  your holiday for your 70th Astoriasis and when you get back start making some plans for a party for your 50th Anniversary and tell everyone that more than anything that is your wish.  Go for it Gal !!!! and lots of good wishes for your special birthday.

So good to see you back on here my old pal Fed.....I know how poorly you have been and you are an inspiration to us all.....keeeeeeeeeeeeep rockin matey, Mr D and i have been thinking about you a lot.

Love and hugs too you both

Dolly xx

  Hello  J and Dolly

Thankyou both for responding to my posts, one of the reasons I manage to roll with the punches and remain a asset in this war with BLACKHEART  is great people like yourselves  both have been to hell and back and yet you hang on and fight back, Dolly I have some personal info for you , also I have changed my e mail address so if you send a message to my inbox please I will send the info, I had to reboot my POTLAP TWICE to erase a virus, and lost important data, I have recovered 95% of it but need just a little more and normal service will resume. J you have massive reserves of courage, travelling the world on your lonesome, well my Lady there is no way I would even think of doing that, so you see, I think you are a credit to yourself J  and your family, who must be very proud of you, and before anyone has come to the conclusion that they are reading a excerpt from the FED DOLLY J Appreciation society,,,WELL LET ME JUST PREEMPT THAT by saying,, you are , but that appreciation I  extend to everyone who belongs to this FORUM  there is not one day of the many days I have been with you where I have been amazed , overjoyed saddened grateful, humbled, told off, now all the things mentioned are what you would expect to hear from good,,,no very very good friends, and over the last few weeks when my brain could not function due to savage dyskie, the one thing I needed to do was let you know what was happening to me, catalogue each day of misery so anyone going through the same agony  could see they were not alone , my one wish was to let everyone know that this beast  can be caged , and it can, I do not exaggerate when I say I thought it was time to leave, all sorts of nasty things were making it a very frightening experience I thought old  Mr G Reaper was about to visit old FED, but when he saw the demented puppet  it was too much like hard work and he pushed off for easier prey, anyway I survived  so Im off to bed now,

                                Best wishes to all,  FEDcool

Off the net.......

Why is Parkinson’s Disease amenable to oxygen therapy?

Extensive animal research has demonstrated a non-specific chronic inflammatory condition in the substantia nigra of the brain.  Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) has been shown to be an anti-inflammatory drug in many conditions.  Anecdotal evidence of many patients with well established PD have been treated with HBOT for other conditions such as diabetic foot ulcers.  For example, a patient with advanced PD who is confined to a wheelchair may get up and walk across the room after a series of HBOT.
What benefits can I expect from oxygen therapy for Parkinson’s Disease?

Since every patient is different it is hard to predict the result in each individual case.  However, we know from 50 years of experience that HBOT is safe and will not make the patient worse.  The usual course of oxygen therapy is once daily, five days a week (M-F) for eight weeks.  If a significant response is noted after 40 HBOT additional treatments may be helpful.

Oh thanks saturn

very helpful.

may give the oxygen treatment a go!

Hi everyone

Good to be back with you all.  OH`s pneumonia took a sudden dive and we went to A&E in an ambulance.  Then his bowel twisted and was sorted with a jet of air.  But he has been very poorly and glad to be home after 12 days.  Hasn`t been eating or drinking so we thought all might be up for OH but then this pm he ate half a banana and followed it with a drink of water so maybe all is not lost.  He has lost so much weight that his gums have lost weight and now he has to stick his false teeth in place.  You just couldn`t make it up could you?

I expect to be a busy nurse maid, head cook etc so unlikely to post for a bit but I thought you`d be glad for me that things are looking up.

Hope you all have good days too, take care and have fun.

Hattie

There is one thing this site has that many lack..........a genuine sense of community. I know I will not be alone in wishing you both well on hearing the good news.

Life can be very difficult. I read many posts about those dealing with situations that really test endurance.

I stand in awe of you amazing people.........all of you. How you cope is beyond any experience I have had to face...........and I thought my situation was difficult!

It proves to me the inner strength and devotion of the human race is still thriving in the face of a very cruel world.

I hope Mr OH continues to progress. He obviously has fantastic support from you and this will help him immensely.

To you and all the others supporting partners, I take my hat off and wish you all the best........you are the salt of the earth.

So glad to hear from you, Hattie!  It's a great sign of strength when a patient can eat again.  With your loving care, your OH will surely recover from the hell he has had to go through.  I know you treasure his presence each day, and he must appreciate all you do.  As you say, you will be busy; I have been in that caregiver's role before.  But please know that we are happy at your good news and hoping the situation will get even better.

My very best wishes to both of you!

J

Hi Hattie, Hope all continues to go well with your OH's recovery, and wish you both all the very best. We'll all be rooting for you to keep smiling and staying positive in all your caring and love for your hubby.

Regards for you  Sheila x

Hi Hattie
